The United States Department of Health and Human Services released a state specific fact sheet for Wyoming consumers regarding open enrollment, as well as a Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment Snapshot for week one of open enrollment.

The MLN Connects Provider News for Nov. 5 includes stories on the National Partnership to Improve Dementia Care and QAPI Call, as well as Medicare Quality Reporting Programs:  2016 Physician Fee Schedule Call. The MLN Connects Provider eNews for Nov. 12 also features information on Raising Awareness of Diabetes, and new FAQs on participation in EHR Incentive Programs.

CMS released it’s fall edition of The Pulse, its quarterly newsletter last week, regarding information regarding important CMS announcements, policies, and updates. Click here to read the Pulse.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration has released a new pocket guide for medical for the treatment of alcohol use disorder. The guide offers a checklist for prescribing medication, approved medications for use in the treatment of alcohol use disorder, and standard drive sizes/amounts and recommended limits. The SHOP marketplace is open from Nov. 15-Dec. 15, allowing clients to enroll in coverage without meeting a minimum participation requirement. This one month period is available to your small employer clients each and every year. After December 15, employers will need to meet their state’s participation requirement in order to enroll in SHOP Marketplace coverage. Webinars and Conferences

The American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine invites you to a series of webinar trainings on the office-based treatment of opioid use disorders. This webinar training, in conjunction with a 3.75 hour online study and exam, will provide the required 8 hours needed to obtain the waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in the office-based setting. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) collaborated to conduct a free 1-hour webinar titled “How To Prevent and Control Pediatric Influenza” on October 1, 2015. Presented by Henry Bernstein, DO, MHCM, FAAP, and Lisa A Grohskopf, MD, MPH, this webinar shared strategies that pediatricians and other clinicians who care for children can use to improve influenza prevention and control in children at highest risk. The American Psychiatric Association is sponsoring a Clinical Vignette. This course is a case-based vignette highlighting a common and typical scenario of how opiate use disorders presents in a general psychiatric setting. The APA designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. On Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. the PCSS offers a webinar on Opioid Use Disorder in a Psychiatrist Emergency Setting. Many patients seeking detox and referral to treatment present to an emergency room as their first contact with the healthcare system. An emergency room assessment involves appropriately triaging the patient to the appropriate level of care. Click here to register.

The American College of Physicians offers its 2016 Cancer Survivorship Symposium:  Advancing Care and Research on Jan. 15-16 in San Francisco. ACP has collaborated with AAFP and ASCO to provide a 2-day symposium to collaborate, exchange insights, and review current research and treatment strategies on how to best enhance survivor care. New regulatory policies and changes to credit reporting requirements have made it harder than ever to credit report a consumer.
