Cigna Holds Over 30 Percent of The Wyoming Commercial Market

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Medical Society (WMS) announced today that Cigna has become a diamond sponsor in the Friends of the WMS sponsorship program.

Thanks to its sponsorship agreement with the WMS, Cigna will communicate to WMS members through Wyoming Medicine magazine, membership update emails, in-person presentations, and feature a strong presence at the WMS’ Annual Meeting, June 3-5 at Jackson Lake Lodge.

“Working with the Wyoming Medical Society will generate new ideas from the market’s health care providers while helping drive innovative approaches to better serve healthcare providers,” said Dr. Mark Laitos, Cigna’s Medical Director for the Mountain States region. “It will also create productive dialogue as we navigate difficult and complex solutions to rising costs while enabling us to more smoothly implement innovations.”

Cigna Corporation is a global health services company committed to their mission to improve the health and well-being of the people they serve. Cigna has more than 80 million customer interactions globally each year in over 35 countries and responds to the health needs of more than 20 million people here in the U.S. This includes over 75,000 people residing in Wyoming, reflecting more than 30 percent of the Wyoming commercial market.

With a footprint this large, Cigna recognizes that every city, business and individual is unique, which is why the company offers market driven approaches to controlling costs and improving quality and why health improvement approaches are tailored to meet each individual where they are on their journey. Cigna’s Wyoming office is in Cheyenne and their “home office of the west,” is just south of that in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

“Wyoming’s healthcare challenges have grown increasingly complex. Cigna is seeking to collaborate with the Wyoming Medical Society and its physician participants to more effectively identify and implement new solutions to control healthcare costs, which directly responds to the voice of our individual customers, employer clients and Wyoming’s governmental officials,” said Kim Bimestefer, President, Cigna Mountain States.

The Wyoming Medical Society was founded in 1903 to provide representation, advocacy and service to Wyoming physicians. We strive to be an efficient, member-driven, responsive organization, capable of anticipating and responding swiftly to the changing healthcare environment. WMS serves our membership, and their patients, and works to improve the health of Wyoming’s citizens.

The Friends of the WMS program allows companies to partner with the WMS in an effort to further the medical profession in the Cowboy State. In addition to helping improve the healthcare industry in Wyoming, Friends of all levels receive the following benefits:
