The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) has announced that Tracey Haas, DO, MPH, FAAFP, has been appointed as the new Medicaid Medical Director, effective August 11.
Dr. Haas brings more than two decades of experience in clinical care, healthcare leadership, and public service. A board-certified family physician, she has dedicated her career to improving access to quality healthcare for underserved and vulnerable populations. Her diverse professional background includes serving as a family physician and WWAMI clinical instructor in Laramie, holding the position of Chief Medical Officer at a Federally Qualified Health Center, and offering valuable expertise through her work with the Colorado Medicaid program.
In addition to her new role with WDH, Dr. Haas is an active leader in Wyoming’s medical community. She currently serves as Vice President of the Wyoming Medical Society, President of the Wyoming Academy of Family Physicians, and is a member of the Executive Board of the Cathedral Home for Children in Laramie. Passionate about the intersection of medicine, public service, and innovative healthcare policy, Dr. Haas looks forward to working closely with healthcare providers, policymakers, and community leaders throughout the state to ensure Medicaid remains strong, adaptable, and effective.
“Being appointed as Medicaid Medical Director is an incredible opportunity to help shape the future of healthcare in Wyoming,” said Dr. Haas. “I am committed to advancing policies that promote health equity, financial responsibility, and meaningful outcomes for the individuals and communities who rely on Medicaid.”
As Medicaid Medical Director, Dr. Haas will play a vital role in advising department leadership, guiding clinical policy development, collaborating with healthcare providers, and maintaining program integrity—essential responsibilities at a time of evolving healthcare needs and federal funding challenges.
Dr. Haas earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Texas State University, a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Texas, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the University of North Texas.
