CHEYENNE, WY — The Wyoming Medical Society (WMS) proudly announces Michael Jording, MD, FAAFP, of Newcastle, as the recipient of its highest honor: the 2025 WMS Physician of the Year Award. This award recognizes exemplary service, dedication to patients, and significant contributions to advancing medicine in Wyoming.
Dr. Jording, a board-certified family physician, has dedicated over three decades to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to the communities of northeast Wyoming. He is widely respected for his clinical excellence and unwavering commitment to rural health, serving as a trusted medical leader, mentor, and advocate in Newcastle and throughout the state.
“Dr. Jording represents the very best of Wyoming medicine,” said Sheila Bush, Executive Director of the Wyoming Medical Society. “He is the kind of physician every community hopes for—steady, skilled, humble, and wholly devoted to the well-being of his patients. His career is a testament to what it means to serve with purpose.”
Beyond his full-time clinical practice, Dr. Jording has actively shaped health policy and supported rural health initiatives across Wyoming, including serving as President of the Wyoming Medical Society from 2006-2008. He is also recognized for mentoring younger physicians, fostering a strong sense of community among healthcare professionals, and consistently prioritizing patient-centered care.
A notable achievement includes Dr. Jording’s founding of the Centennial Scholarship Fund in 2003, commemorating the Wyoming Medical Society’s 100th anniversary. Through his leadership and collaboration with colleagues, physicians across Wyoming raised over $50,000, establishing a scholarship fund that has since awarded nearly $90,000 to more than 60 medical student recipients.
The Physician of the Year Award will be presented to Dr. Jording earlier this November at the Wyoming Medical Society’s Annual Conference in Laramie, where colleagues gathered to celebrate his outstanding career and lasting legacy.
